AA MemberA.A. members should have a home group.

  • The only requirement is a desire to stop drinking. The following are suggestions only

  • Traditionally, most A.A. members have found it important to belong to one group
    that they call their “home group.”

  • This is the group where they accept service responsibilities and try
    to sustain friendships.

  • With membership comes the right to vote on issues that might affect the group and might also affect A.A. as a whole.

  • Serve as a Trusted Servant such as Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, General service representative, Intergroup (central office) representative.

  • Serve on committees such as Literature , Treatment Facilities/Corrections, Grapevine/La Viña, C.P.C., Archives, Public Information, Archives

G. S. R. General Service Representative

  • Bring your group message and vote to districts meetings and area assemblies.

  • Report back to your group what’s going on in AA.

  • Serve as group contact between your group and AA through your district and area.

  • Read the G.SR. kit and Box 459 and share them with your group.

  • You’re the traditional advisor for you group and when need reach out to your district and/or area for answers needed by your group

  • Remind your our about the importance and value of our seventh tradition.

  • Share with your fellow members the joy of widening AA horizons.

D. C. M. Distircts Committee Member

  • The D.C.M. carries the collective group conscience of the A.A. groups in the district to the area committee. Among the two-way communication responsibilities of the D.C.M. are:

  • Holding regular meetings of all G.S.R.s in the district.

  • Assisting the delegate in obtaining group information in time to meet the deadline for appropriate A.A. directories.

  • Keeping G.S.R.s informed about Conference activities.

  • Acquainting G.S.R.s with The A.A. Service Manual,  Box 4-5-9, and other A.A. literature.

  • Holding workshops on carrying the message of the Seventh Tradition to nonsupporting A.A. groups.

  • Holding sharing sessions on just about any service  subject.

  • And, of course, making a regular practice of talking  to groups (new and old) on the responsibilities  of general service work.

AA Preamble

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
